Impact of COVID-19 on IT Industry
The world was some how moving smooth until Covid-19 was hit. IT industry were facing many downfall, as a lot of companies are forced to ask their employees to work from home (remotely) keeping in the account of the public health concerns. Due to this, there is a massive loss in opportunity for many companies.
The spread of Corona Virus has caused a lot of IT Tech conferences to get cancelled, which could have been a great partnership opportunity for many companies to expand their business boundaries. Later most of the conferences as done online, but did not have effect as of the latter ones held before.
Though the pandemic has hit many industries, later it was a booming period for the IT Industry as the demand of technology had a massive demand. There was a increased demand for software and social media platforms such as Google DUO, WhatsApp Video call, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. All these teleconferencing tools help the people to have conference meetings and work at the same time.
The economy will also blossom because, during these crises, people understood the importance of the Internet and technology as this is helping us stay safe and helping in the communication between the doctors and the public.
Due to the coronavirus, a lot of opportunities opened up in the IT industry, such as the growing need for the 5G technology this will help increase connections that support the primed remote interactions. This has become the top priority for many organizations due to the pandemic. IT could play a major role in the health industry during lockdown. A lot of apps have been built in the past few months for this.
As work from home started, the focus shifted to the wellbeing of people and ensuring delivery commitments are met‐ hence managers and the human resources team set up various forms of engagement with employees. A key insight to this period is about how teams quickly came together in this crisis, regularly collecting information from different parts of the world, looking at government updates, talking to clients and taking key decisions which then needed to be quickly communicated.
Some policy and system changes were to be made, to enable people to work from home and access relevant tools. We could see an agile, empowered team working to make things happen, quickly reaching out to others in the organization, cutting across hierarchies, with regular leadership calls keeping everyone aligned.
It was during the lockdown that demand on IT Industry increased. As it was work from companies wanted to connect to their employees online, so there was evolution of many software’s and applications. As not only companies went online, the education system was switched to online. There was major demand for IT in the heath sector. As people had to stay at home, super market started online facilities. Ecommerce applications came up. Though at the initial stage there was a hit down, the boom was quick and drastic.
